GROW TOGETHER WEEKLY UPDATE | JAN 21

Hello Grow Together Leaders and Happy Thursday!  Thank you again for taking on the Common Threads series.  It has been really encouraging to hear the feedback from your group members about the conversations you are having.

SHARE LIFE

To start this week, I just want to say thank you for sharing life with the people in your group or class.  I was reminded again this week that the goal of a Grow Together group or class is not what we study, or even who has the greatest snacks (in case your curious, my group has already won that competition).  The goal is that we care about one another’s souls.

We are not here to help one another know more, we are here to help one another be more like Jesus.  The way we care for one another, the moments we show up in each others lives when things aren’t going well, the moments we celebrate each others’ victories, the times we hold each other accountable, the way we pray for one another…those are the things that add up over time to bring about life change.  It isn’t always easy, but it is worthwhile.  Thank you for sharing your life with the people in your group and walking along with them on their journey.

COMMON THREADS WEEK 3

directionThis week we are talking about Direction.  Here is an updated version of the week 3 study: Common Threads – Small Group Study – Week 3 Based on the feedback I received over the last couple weeks, I added and edited a few questions to the curriculum.

If it works best for you, please feel free to download these and print them for your group, or email them to your group in advance.  If you would prefer not to print them yourself, I will have copies available at the Welcome Center each week. Please take as many as you need.

WEEKS 4 and 5 will be available early next week. I will send them out as soon as they are ready.

Thank you so much for everything you do.  As always, please don’t hesitate to email or call me with any questions or concerns.

Thanks, JG

GROW TOGETHER WEEKLY UPDATE | JAN 14

CHECK THIS VIDEO OUT FIRST

LB Jan 14 2015

IF YOU ARE A NEW GROUP

(OR HAVE NEW PEOPLE IN YOUR GROUP)

Screen Shot 2016-01-14 at 12.51.52 PMAs I mentioned in the video above, there was feedback from week one that the some of the questions may have been a little tough for new groups (or groups with new people in them) to dive into.  I can absolutely see how questions that require a certain level of vulnerability and trust within the group, could have been tough for those of you in this situation.

As we head into week 2, I would like to ask you to discern what is best for your group.  If you have new people in your group, please feel free to take a step back from the study and just take the week to get to know one another better.  Here are some ideas for you:

  • Have each person introduce themselves and share two things about themselves: something that a lot of people know.  Something that only a few people know.
  • Ask each person in your group to share one fear they have about joining the group, and one thing they hope to gain by being in the group.
  • Ask each person to share what interests them most about the Common Threads series and what they are hoping to gain personally as you work through this together.
  • Ask each person to share about someone who has significantly influenced their spiritual journey and one event in their lives that has shaped their spiritual journey.
  • Have each person share about one way they find satisfaction in serving the church or others, and what one strength or giftedness they bring to the group.

If you choose to go this route, and don’t want to lose rhythm with the study, please feel free to skip the week 2 content and just ask your group to share what impacted them from the sermon.

COMMON THREADS WEEK 2

health_handThis week we are talking about Health.  Here is an updated version of the week 2 study: Common Threads – Small Group Study – Week 2  Based on the feedback I received, I added a couple questions to the curriculum. If it works best for you, please feel free to download these and print them for your group, or email them to your group in advance.  If you would prefer not to print them yourself, I will have copies available at the Welcome Center each week. Please take as many as you need.

YOUR FEEDBACK

As I mentioned in the video, I would love your feedback on how Common Threads is working for your group/class.  I will use the feedback you give me to edit the remaining weeks of the study.  Please take a few minutes to complete the form below.

Thank you again for leading.  It is a blessing to serve with each of you.  Have a great week.

Common Threads – Part 1

Hello Grow Together Leaders, I hope you had an excellent Christmas and New Year. My family and I had a great time away, but we are glad to be back and looking forward to what God is going to do this year.

COMMON THREADS BEGINS THIS WEEKEND (JAN 9/10)

Screen Shot 2015-12-17 at 12.43.40 PMIn this series, we will examine five common threads that run through our prayer lives. Each week, we will look at a Biblical perspective and prayer perspective on one of five common themes people tend to ask for prayer for [relationships, health, direction, spirituality, and finances].

COMMON THREADS GROUP CURRICULUM

Many of your groups are participating in the Common Threads curriculum over the next 5 weeks.  Thank you for joining us in this study.  To help you prepare, I put together a Leader Guide for this series.  You can download that here: Common Threads – Leader Guide.  I would highly encourage you to take a read through this as you prepare for the series.

FIRST 3 WEEKS

Below are the first three weeks of curriculum ready to go for your group. If it works best for you, please feel free to download these and print them for your group, or email them to your group in advance.  If you would prefer not to print them yourself, I will have copies available at the Welcome Center each week. Please take as many as you need.   If you are unable to pick them up at the Welcome Center, please let me know and I will mail you the copies you need.

Weeks 4 and 5 will be available next week.  Thank you again for being a part of this series, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

PLEASE JOIN ME IN PRAYING

I am incredibly excited about this series and all God will do in the lives of people in our groups.  Please join me in praying this week for the upcoming series and each of our small groups and classes.

Thank you,
JG
