Hey all, I hope your week has gone really well.  Either way,  I hope this brightens your day. I haven’t shared this with many people.  After watching I’m sure you’ll understand why, but my family and I put this video together to introduce ourselves the campers at a camp my wife and I teach and lead worship at each summer.  Because I trust you, I thought it was worth sharing with you.

OK, now that that’s over, let’s get down to some truly important things.

maxresdefaultAs I mentioned in the huddle Sunday night (if you weren’t there, we missed you), we would love it if each of your groups/classes would join us for the Finding Your Way Back to God study.  The study would begin the week following the sermon, so week 1’s study would begin Sept. 11-17.

Here is a video to give you a better perspective on what this study is about.

If you aren’t able to view the video, please click here.

There are really two audiences for this study.  First, this is a great study for people who are far from God, or re-exploring God.  Please encourage the people in your group/class to invite their friends to join them on the weekends, maybe even invite them to check out your group.  Secondly, this study truly describes the process we each go through over and over again in our faith journey.  That perspective will be important for each of your groups as you go through this study.

426734Each person (or couple) in your group will need a “Participants Guide” for this study.  Copies will be available starting this weekend for purchase at the Mosaic Cafe.  Please encourage the members of your group to purchase these.  The cost is $6 plus tax.

I also have set aside copies for each of you.  I will have those at the Welcome Center this weekend.  Please stop by and give them the secret password: AVOCADO, or just tell them you are a Grow Together leader and they will know what to do.

After you receive your book, please take some time to look through the sections of each week of the study and familiarize yourself with how they work.  You know what works best for your group, so please feel free to use the sections and questions that work best in your context.

Our hope is to launch a bunch of new groups around the Finding Your Way Back to God curriculum.  If you have family members or friends who are not currently involved in groups, please encourage them to give a group a 5 week test drive.  Please share this link with them so they can sign up:

As Pastor Wayne announced last weekend, we will be launching a service in the East Auditorium during the 11 o’clock service on Sept. 11.  Please consider inviting your group to attend this service together to help us create space in the West Auditorium for guests.

As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.  Click here to email me

Thank you again, JG

FallI am so excited for Autumn.  I’m looking forward to cooler days, football, changing leaves, pumpkin spice lattes, and did I mention football.  However, what I am really excited for is to get Grow Together groups back in the school year rhythm (yes I realize some of you never left that rhythm), and to hopefully launch a bunch of new groups in a few weeks.

As we journey into this new season together, I would like to ask you to join me in prayer for a few things:

  • Please pray for your group/class.  Pray for God’s movement in the lives of the people in your group.  Pray that this season of life together would be transformational.  Pray for wisdom in how to lead and invest in their lives.
  • Pray for each other. (other Grow Together leaders in FCC)
  • Pray for the new groups that will form.  Pray for courage for our congregants to step out and to be willing to give community a chance.  Pray for God’s provision of leaders for these groups.
  • Pray for the leaders in our church.
  • Pray for the other churches and small groups joining us in the Finding Your Way Back to God series.  Pray for people in our community who are unchurched to give one of these churches a try during this series.

Screen Shot 2016-08-04 at 12.00.35 PMWe are looking for individuals, families, and small groups to help lead carnival games at our Family Fun Night on August 28. This is an opportunity for us to build relationship with the people in our city.  We are asking that people volunteer for a 90 minute session (4:00-5:30 or 5:15-6:45).  Could you please pass this opportunity along to the people in your group/class and have them email me at if they are interested.

Mark-your-calendar1Our Kickoff Leader Huddle is Sunday evening August 21 from 6-7:30 pm  We will be discussing everything you need to know about our fall series, doing some key training for the year, and hopefully welcoming some new leaders to our group.  If you have not already, please RSVP.  Dinner is provided.
